Marino Giacometti, president of the International Skyrunning Federation, Gianluca Martinelli, owner of Milan based Vista Comunicazione agency and Paul Crake, world record athlete, have joined forces in creating and promoting the first-ever Vertical World Circuit ®.
Marino Giacometti coordinates the ISF Vertical World Circuit and is President of the International Skyrunning Federation. A mountaineer, he launched the sport of skyrunning in the early 90's on the summits of four continents. Since then major competitions have been held, including Continental and World Championships, a World Series, and a four yearly high altitude Olympics with the SkyGames. Since 2006 he has collaborated with the Vertical Sprint organization in Milan, Italy and, in 2009, was instrumental in incorporating skyscraper racing as a SkySpeed discipline in the ISF regulations and in gaining the Federation's support for the new world circuit.
Gianluca Martinelli is an expert and passionate promoter of sport and sports marketing. He is the owner of Vista Comunicazione, a Milan based agency founded in 1993 specializing in planning and organizing sports events and pr activities. Gianluca was a competition downhill skier, and in his professional sphere has coordinated events, activities and initiatives in winter sports, tennis, American football and in particular running and Eco-running, creating and organizing numerous competition and recreational activities. Vista is a regular consultant to the Milan Council, the Lombardy Region, AIPS (International Sport Press Association) and to the Chamber of Deputies.
Paul Crake is technical consultant to the Vertical World Circuit. A versatile athlete, from mountain running to cycling, in recent times Paul was the most prominent and successful athlete in skyscraper racing, collecting extraordinary victories between 1998 and 2006 in New York (five times), Sydney (four times), and Taipei (twice). He still retains the world record on the Empire State Building, (9'33") Sydney Tower (6'52") and Taipei's 101 Tower (10'29"). In November 2006 he had a serious cycling accident in which he suffered spinal injuries tying him to a wheelchair. In committing to the Vertical World Circuit, Paul wants to share his passion, his experience and his network of prestigious personal contacts the world over.
